Prince George is a steadily growing centre of culture and the arts. We are home to live music festivals, art galleries, museums, theatres, and an orchestra. Local promoters are also constantly bringing in special events to the city to accommodate the wide variety of musical interests in the city.

Prince George has two fascinating museums which offer exhibits to interest both young and old. The Exploration Place at the Fraser-Fort George Regional Museum, was opened in 2001, and contains extensive archives, rotating exhibits and hand-on activities on a variety of subjects both from the part and for the future. If history is a particular passion of yours or if you would just like an interesting way to spend an afternoon, you can also check out the Prince George Railway and Forestry Museum. Here you get a sense of the rich industrial history of the region as you take a trip through time. If history isn’t your style but you still love to revisit the past, Prince George also has a local drive-in movie theatre which runs all summer playing double-feature movies starting at dusk.
The recently-opened Two Rivers Art Gallery (shown above) is a Class ‘A’ facility which shows nationally and internationally recognized artists along with local and regional talents. Modeled after the region, the wonderfully inspiring building was designed with a sloping roof, boulders and shrubs to symbolize the cutbanks and riverbed of the Nechako and Fraser Rivers which are the frame of the city, Douglas fir ribs speak to the forest industry, and the white siding alludes to the snow that we are famous for. It is a gallery that Prince George is proud of and is definitely a worthwhile experience for any art enthusiast.
Prince George is also blessed to be a part of yearly music and dance festivals and professional stage productions. The Prince George Symphony Orchestra provides the people of Prince George with the best live classical music north of Vancouver, and two top-quality dance studios offer regular dance performances and musicals. Prince George also gets its fair share of stage productions both professional and amateur from the renowned Theatre North West and the Prince George Theatre Workshop.
