Prince George offers a wide variety of programs to meet the need of any student. Whether it is French immersion programs, traditional or Montessori schools, Prince George strives for educational excellence at every level. School District 57 is responsible for an area which covers 5 communities and over 52,000 square kilometers.

There are 48 schools including 1 Montessori, 1 Fine Arts and 4 French Immersion. We currently have over 15,000 students enrolled within our district.

Aside from elementary and secondary schools, Prince George also offers a rich post-secondary education. The city has one of the highest per capita student populations in BC at one in ten people. This is because Prince George is the proud home of the University of Northern British Columbia, which has been in operation since 1994, and the College of New Caledonia which was established in 1969. The University is consistently rated extremely well in Maclean’s magazine and is a growing centre of research with local research funding now amounting to about $10 million annually. Both the College and the University offer medical training, with UNBC participating in the Northern Medical Program and the College with programs in Medical Laboratory technology and Nursing. The biggest benefit to having two fantastic post-secondary institutions is that families can live in Prince George safe in the knowledge that their children can achieve their vocational dreams from home.

From youngsters starting their first year of kindergarten to seniors entering continuing education programs, Prince George has something for everyone.
